Too firm, July 9, 2012 By  Purplepanda - See all my reviews This review is from: Pregnancy Pillow Wedge (Baby Product) This is a useful item for elevating your stomach while sleeping but it's too firm and can actually hurt sometimes. It seems to sometimes cause my baby to wriggle in discomfort inside me. While I was waiting on this wedge turning up, I ended up buying a body pillow from Walmart. It's comfortable as I can wrap my legs round it and it takes pressure off my back. Now I really wish I'd gotten the My Brest Friend body pillow which has a wedge attached so I could elevate my stomach and my legs at the same time without the need for two separate items. It holds my belly up when I sleep on my side-- otherwise, the weight of my belly pulling to the side makes me wake up in the middle of the night in terrible pain and I have to get out of bed and walk until the pain stops. My wife tried a boppy for the first month then got this, which she used continually for the next six. You can even use it standing up or when you move around since the strap goes around your back. The strap also provides back & lumbar support. The pocket is a nice touch (you put your Lansinoh, cell phone, baby nail clippers, etc in it) The only possible downside is it isn't that easy to put on with one hand (for example, if you are already cradling the baby) If you're price sensitive look around, there are often significant discounts for older colors. This was horrible as I was on some pretty strong drugs and on no sleep, with scrunchy pillows that compressed down and didn't support my arms and back, leaving me incredibly sore after trying to breastfeed and pump. As soon as my husband brought the pillow to the hospital the process of learning to breastfeed improved a million percent - the pillow is soft enough to be comfortable for the baby but nice and firm. It stays in place, is easy to snap on and off, and Dad loves using it too. The pocket is nice and I love that the cover is washable. At first I wasn't sure what the little bumps on the one side were for so I just turned it over and used it that way, and it worked fine - since then I've figured out the little bumps are in the exact right position to hold up baby's head just a little... It is so secure and never slips or slides like the Boppy pillow or traditional pillows do. The cover comes off and can be machine washed, but does have to hang to dry, which is annoying, but still not enough for me to take a star away. MBF is also nice and firm, which I find a big advantage over the Boppy. I cannot recommend this pillow enough-I will be buying it for all of my friends who plan to breast feed! However, after many sessions with 2 boppies, too many pillows to count, a frustrated mama, and 2 frustrated babies, I broke down and bought one. I was a little hesitant at first because of the cost, but after using it I realized I should have bought one from the beginning. It is worth every penny. The Double Blessings pillow is thick so it keeps the babies up closer, meaning less bending over and getting a stiff back. There is no shifting or sliding of multiple pillows, or one baby being closer than the other and having to readjust. It makes tandem nursing very easy! I started using it when my twins were about 6 weeks old and I still use it multiple times a day, and they are 11 months. I have definitely gotten my money's worth considering how many times I have used it. I highly recommend the Double Blessings twin nursing pillow to anyone who wants to tandem nurse twins. First of all, the buckle kept popping off the end of the strap (they hadn't even sown the end over), and the strap barely made it around me, and I'm not even the maximum size they advertise the pillow for. I had to replace it myself, which doesn't make sense for an $80 pillow. Second, the velcro on the privacy cover was just barely big enough, so the scratchy velcro corner kept poking my daughter's heads. Third, I am very safety concious, but my 3 week old daughter actually rolled off the side of the pillow and over the arm of the couch, because the pillows "contoured sides" are very minimally sloped.
