This review is from: Angel Dear Curved Pillow, Pink Monkey (Baby Product) This is the second Angel Dear curved pillow I own. The first was a baby shower gift 4 years ago. The fabric looks great still, the velcro has deteriorated over time, but that's with numerous washings over the years. My daughter still sleeps with it. I loved using it as a nursing pillow because it fit well under my arm. The Boppy I had was huge and didn't work for me, as I'm only 5'3" and felt like it was way to big for my short frame. As she grew bigger, it made a perfect toddler pillow because it's not too big. Other pillows lifted her head at too high an angle, where this one fit her small head better because it had been squished enough from my nursing that it was just right. This review is from: Boppy Prenatal Total Body Pillow (Baby Product) I purchased this pillow at the end of December 2010 but did not begin using it on a nightly basis until mid-February 2011. It's now April 2011...and the pillow is already flattening and losing its shape. That said, it is still useful, and I definitely still get some benefit from using it. The part that goes between the knees is still fluffy enough to provide support and I can wedge the middle bit beneath my belly to get some support there. Unfortunately, the portion for neck/head/shoulder support is just not holding up. The filling is becoming lumpy (no, I haven't washed the pillow yet, so it's not from washer/dryer) and it's just not quite as comfortable as it was initially. I expect the pillow will last until the end of this pregnancy, but I won't be saving it for the next one...I doubt it will be able to hold up through another. I'll probably look for a different body pillow the next time. It offers the support that I need without being overwhelming in bed. I can turn back and forth from side to side with it relatively easily. It also doesn't take up too much space so I don't kick my hunny out of bed while using it. I like the options with it as well. You can fold it in half and prop yourself up to read or watch tv, lay it on one side of me so I can lay more on my back with support or all the way on my side with it between my legs and rest my arm on it. Plus, I know I can use it when the baby comes too to prop him up while relaxing or breastfeeding. It's the perfect "fluffiness" and hasn't deflated like some other reviews stated. I was skeptical when I saw how small it is when its in the packaging but it's been a life saver thus far and I plan on using it as much possible. I HIGHLY recommend! You can use the pillow in so many different positions. I would use it to help support my tummy, other nights I'd wrap it around my back if my back was achy..it turned many sleepless night into heaven. The point I'd really love to make, which I didn't see in too many reviews is this pillow is awesome AFTER the baby is born. I used this daily for breastfeeding with both of my children. It was incredibly comfortable for both mom and baby and snuggled them in just right. On top of that, both of my babies LOVED to nap on this pillow. The pillow sort of looks like two attached crescent moons (more or less)and if you place them together it makes a big circular pillow (again, more or less). Well we'd place the babies right smack in the middle and they'd fall asleep right away! This is a MUST HAVE for soon-to-be mommas. I still have my pillow almost 4 years... After struggling with the boppy constantly sliding off my lap and feeling like I had to hold onto the pillow and the baby for dear life or they would both slide to the floor (I have a wiggly baby), I went looking for another pillow. I found this one and I have been fairly happy with it. It still slides around on my lap some, but there is more room so it is more secure and my baby seems to like it better. His head is more elevated and there is more room for him on the pillow to sprawl out. He often falls asleep on my lap on the pillow. I do have some complaints though. The fabric is very thin, allowing polyester fibers to creep through and the pillow sheds them all over his feet, hands and clothes. The fabric stains easily because it is so dark (much darker than it appears on the website--medium to dark denim colored) and surface washing doesn't get rid of the stains. While this product is better than the boppy pillow for nursing it's not as easy to use as they make it look in the picture. If you have a newborn elevated the attached pillow his head rests on is too soft to actally keep him up the nipple adequately and he gets an improper latch. Perhaps it'll be easier to use for this when he is a little older and has better head control. Basically the pillow is too soft to work to elevate his head. Maybe if it were firmer. I do like the boost his head get so I can hold his head in my hand while I nurse without having strain on my wrists. So while it's an improvement on the boppy pillow, it doesn't work the way it should. I still don't think it was a complete waste but his head isn't elevated while nursing like I hoped it would be. This pillow is just average. The first two were completely useless to me as they were way too firm and uncomfortable to nurse with. This pillow however was perfect. It is really soft so your elbows have a nice cushion to rest on, unlike the firm pillows that your arms can't sink into. The pillow for the baby's head is perfect so she doesn't sweat against your arm and she can fall asleep without your arm falling asleep as well. The down side is that you have to wash the entire pillow instead of just a slip cover, but it kept its shape just fine in the washer. I have been using this pillow for 4 months now and it is still like new. I highly recommend this pillow for breastfeeding mothers.
