I saw some other products like this that only came with their own program of music or whatever it was. I thought at first that because it only has one speaker that it wouldn't be loud enough, but it seems to be, plus the amnoitic fluid amplifies sound. I also like the material and how it's very flexible for size. There is a little zippered space for your MP3 player (It would fit a big unit, but since it wraps around my stomach I've opted for a smaller iPod nano that I had from a few years ago). You plug in the belt to the MP3 player, and you're set! I love that even when the iPod and belt are both at max volume the sound for the baby is still relatively quiet. They say it is "normal conversation level", to me it does seem a bit lower than that. The set comes with a splitter and set of headphones if you'd like to listen on your own as well. Mom's set has it's own volume control, which I like. As well, mom's set has rubber pads on it and seems pretty comfortable (important for me since I have relatively small ears, these don't hurt!).The belt is made of fleece with padding, and it seems well made to me. The back connects with about 12 inches of velcro and it really does stick! My only complaint is the available colors of this unit...
